2020 SONC Report: John Wubbel.
Today we finally got a signed memorandum of agreement from the NMRA. Registration fee is still $150 but we negotiated away the additional $25 fee for non-NMRA members. You can attend one day for $50 if that will help you out on the cost of the convention. Hotel registration is now open. There is no word yet on our Welcome Party as all party negotiations must be done through the NMRA. Our only income will be from vendor table rentals and items we may sell. It looks like we may have 6,000 sq ft of vendor space. Once the committtee decides how many vendors we can fit into that, we will know what our expected income will be. Luckily we only have the $1,000 vendor room rental as an expense so far. And the NMRA assumes all the risks with the hotel and convention center.

Chicago: Rich Randall will not be able to attend so Bruce will bring up modular standards at the OSK meeting. All the pros and cons of attending the meet due to COVID-19 were discussed. Several board members will attend despite the virus. The Hill picture will be presented at the Friday 4:00 pm opening. Brian will take photos of the entire Chicago show crew. The future of the Chicago show is doubtful. A local man had a proposition but it was deemed unworkable. The Indy show is firm for 2021 and 2022. The Chicago OSK meeting will be at 7:30 pm. All 2020 train shows face cancellation or re-scheduling due to the virus situation.

David’s Plan: Bruce made a motion that David’s plan for O Scale 2-Rail be adopted as the O Scale King’s plan. It was seconded by Daniel Dawdy and passed unanimously. A 32″ monitor is needed to show his video. Terry Terrance will donate a TV table. Bruce will price monitors. Local groups will be encouraged to purchase similar set-ups for using our video for recruiting. It was decided that we will concentrate on recruiting only those that are already in the model RR hobby. It is recommended that all OSK members read David’s article in the on-line O Scale Resource Magazine to learn more about his plan. Our on-line catalog of all things O scale was discussed. The exact format is yet TBD and more volunteers are needed to maintain the catalog.

The sale of the Heritage cars is going well. They cost $120.00 each and a few are still available.

Our next meeting will be Monday, April 13, 2020 at 8:00 pm CST.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm CDT.

Respectfully,

George Wallace
Secretary
