CA, Bay Area O Scale Modelers Meet
November 18, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CST
Times are Pacific Time not CST.
Prior to the pandemic, a round-robin group of Bay Area O scale 2-rail modelers met at private homes to discuss O scale modeling, display their projects and collections, and enjoy each other’s company. They would run trains if the host had a layout. This activity was dropped during the pandemic. The O scale modelers meet was revived earlier this year when a highly successful meeting of O scale modelers was held at the Alameda County Central Railroad Society club at the Pleasanton Fair Grounds. It was decided to hold another meeting later in the year.
Accordingly, an O scale modelers meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 18 at the Golden State Model Railroad Museum located at Miller-Knox Regional Park in Point Richmond, CA. Everyone interested in 2-rail O scale modeling is invited including those who model in other scales or gauges. O scale narrow gauge and 3-rail are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Agenda:
1. Meet at 10 am. Introduce participants.
2. Discussion of the the state of 2-rail O scale modeling in the Bay Area. People can discuss their home or club layouts and their O scale modeling activities.
2. Show and tell. Display models and O scale projects that people are working on.
3. Possible Clinic: We are attempting to schedule a clinic on how to install batteries in O scale engines. This clinic is not certain at this time.
4. Run your trains or club trains on the GSMRM O-scale 2-rail display.
5. Lunch at a restaurant in Richmond. There are several good restaurants close to the club that is suitable for a group lunch. Everyone buys their own lunch.
The GSMRM O scale display occupies 4,000 square feet. Long trains can be run over various routes. The display has both DCC and DC operation on separate loops. This will be an opportunity for O scale modelers to run big engines and long trains through some really beautiful scenery. Please see the GSMRM website, (https://www.gsmrm.org/index. shtml) for more information.
The club also has an O scale interurban and On3 display. It is unknown if these displays will be operational during the meet.
Please plan to come and meet other Bay Area 2-rail model railroaders and enjoy a wonderful morning at the Golden State Model Railroad Museum.
