DESCRIPTION:This is to update you on the planning for the 2025 meet. \nThe name of the meet will be changed to the event’s original name: O Scale West. The phrases Narrow Gauge West and S West will be dropped from the name; narrow gauge and S Scale attendance will continue to be recognized and encouraged in OSW’s communications. \nIt is time to recognize that the old days of OSW with 200 tables sold and more than 500 attendees are gone; until the demand changes\, OSW will be planned to be a 100 table 200 attendee event. \nLastly\, a long term goal that will take some time to implement\, is that the meet will be moved from Memorial Day weekend to OSW’s historical early February dates. DESCRIPTION:The next OSC Online will be held on October 19th at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Zoom – will include a presentation by Daniel Raible on 3D printing: an in-depth overview of how 3D printing works\, start to finish\, and\, even better\, how to make 3D printing work for you. Daniel is a true 3D wizard.  He has a terrific power point which lays it all out.  This is a “don’t miss” presentation.  Watch for the invitation\, which will include one-click link and meeting ID and passcode. \nAlso included in the October program will be an introduction to the new O Scale modular standards.  The construction of layouts comprised of interchangeable sections offers ways for modelers who lack room\, longer time horizons and money to build layout sections and operate on relatively large layouts. But modular layouts also offer opportunities for modelers who have downsized into smaller spaces and given up larger layouts to continue to participate in the Scale. And it offers a way even for modelers who have layouts to become part of a larger community. \nThe presentation will also include an introduction to a new modular group which has been established in Maryland\, using the standards\, to build a modeling community\, develop modeling skills\, promote model railroading hobby\, and 2 rail O scale in particular while having fun.  If this sparks your imagination to start something similar in your area\, that is one of the purposes.

DESCRIPTION:We surveyed our attendees regarding their preferences.  The response was marvelous!  As a result of what our attendees told us we have reinvented the meet: new dates\, new schedule\, and lowered admission prices.\n\nThe meet was moved from the Memorial Day weekend to earlier in the year\, Friday and Saturday March 6-7\, 2026.  Friday will be setup and a part day swap meet\, Saturday will include set up and a full day swap meet. Of course\, the model contest\, clinics\, and layout visits are included. New this year will be the inclusion of scale 3-rail. As always\, S scale and all scales narrow gauge are included.\n\nRegistration fees were lowered to $35 for individuals/family for Friday and Saturday and $25 for individuals/family for Saturday only. Vendor fees are unchanged (see our web site for vendor fees).\n\nThe location was moved to the IFES Society Hall in Mountain View\, CA.\nThe nearest lodging facility\, The Hampton Inn\, has reserved a block of rooms at a favorable price for OSW attendees; a link to register is available on the OSW website.  The special room rates are available for March 6 and March 7.  There is a hard cut off date\, January 20\, for making room reservations.\n\nYou can register to attend OSW on-line or via a mailed form.  Both methods are available on the web site https://oscalewest.com.

SUMMARY:O Scale March Meet
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the annual March Meet in Lombard\, IL.  The Chicago March O Scale Meet (actually held at the Westin Hotel in Lombard\, Illinois\, west of Chicago) is the largest (and many say best)  O Scale 2 Rail Meet in the country. \nOne thousand OS2R modelers gather to shop at 350 vendor tables\, attend clinics\, catch operating modular layouts\, enter and view models in the contest\, visit layouts and attractions and share stories\, friendships and an occasional beer.  The contest uses NMRA model evaluation criteria and evaluators so NMRA member models earning merit awards can be used toward NMRA Achievement Program certificates. \nFor 2027\, the March Meet will be held on Saturday\, March 13th (9 am-5 pm) and Sunday\, March 14th (8:30 am-2 p.m).
